This removes the helper functions added by r8-1294 to detect whether the char_traits member functions can be evaluated at compile time. Instead, we can just use __builtin_constant_evaluated directly, which is well supported by non-GCC compilers by now. As a result, there is a chance that those members will no longer be usable in constant expressions when using old versions of non-GCC compilers. Make the relevant feature test macros depend on the availability of __builtin_constant_evaluated, so they are defined only when the feature is actualyl available. The new testcase from the PR is added to the libitm testsuite, because that's where we can be sure it's OK to use the -fgnu-tm option. Signed-off-by:

The change in major version (and the increment from Darwin19 to 20) caused libtool tests to fail which resulted in incorrect build settings for shared libraries. We take this opportunity to sort out the shared undefined symbols state rather than propagating the current unsound behaviour into a new rev. This change means that we default to the case that missing symbols are considered an error, and if one wants to allow this intentionally, the confiuration for that case should be set appropriately. Three existing cases need undefined dynamic lookup: libitm, where there is already a configuration mechanism to add the flags. libcc1, where we add simple configuration to add the flags for Darwin. libsanitizer, where we can add to the existing extra flags. libcc1/ChangeLog: PR target/97865 * Makefile.am: Add dynamic_lookup to LD flags for Darwin. * configure.ac: Test for Darwin host and set a flag. * Makefile.in: Regenerate. * configure: Regenerate. libitm/ChangeLog: PR target/97865 * configure.tgt: Add dynamic_lookup to XLDFLAGS for Darwin. * configure: Regenerate. libsanitizer/ChangeLog: PR target/97865 * configure.tgt: Add dynamic_lookup to EXTRA_CXXFLAGS for Darwin. * configure: Regenerate. _ITM_beginTransaction is a 'returns_twice' function that saves x30 on the stack as part of gtm_jmpbuf (that is passed down to GTM_begin_transaction), but the saved x30 is also used for return. The return path should be protected so we don't leave an ldp x29, x30, [sp] ret gadget in the code, so x30 is signed on function entry. This exposes the signed address in the gtm_jmpbuf too. The jmpbuf does not need a signed address since GTM_longjmp uses ldp x29, x30, [x1] br x30 and with BTI there is a BTI j at the _ITM_beginTransaction call site where this jump returns. Using PAC does not hurt: the gtm_jmpbuf is internal to libitm and its layout is only used by sjlj.S so the signed address does not escape. Saving signed x30 into gtm_jmpbuf provides a bit of extra protection, but more importantly it allows adding the PAC-RET support without changing the existing code much. In theory bti and pac-ret protection can be added unconditionally since the instructions are in the nop space, in practice they can cause trouble if some tooling does not understand the gnu property note (e.g. old binutils) or some unwinder or debugger does not understand the new dwarf op code used for pac-ret (e.g old gdb). So the code is written to only support branch-protection according to the code generation options. libitm/ChangeLog: * config/aarch64/sjlj.S: Add conditional pac-ret protection.

I discovered that libitm: (a) declares __cxa_allocate_exception and friends directly, (b) doesn't mark them as 'throw()' (c) doesn't mark the replacment fns _ITM_$foo as nothrow either We happen to get away with it because of code in the compiler that, although it checks the parameter types, doesn't check the exception specification. (One reason being they used to not be part of the language's type system, but now they are.) I suspect this can lead us to generate pessimal code later, if we've seen one of these decls earlier. Anyway, with modules it becomes trickier[*], so I'm trying to clean it up and not be a problem. I see Jakub fixed part of the problem (https://gcc.gnu.org/pipermail/gcc-patches/2018-December/513302.html) AFAICT, he did fix libitm's decls, but left the lax parm-type checking in the compiler. libitm.h is not very informative about specification: in version 1 of http://www.intel.com/some/path/here.pdf. */ Anyway, it was too fiddly to have libitm pick up the declarations from libsupc++. Besides it makes them weak declarations, and then provides definitions for non-elf systems. So this patch adds the expected 'throw()' * libitm/libitm.h (_ITM_NOTHROW): Define. The new arm-uclinuxfdpiceabi target behaves pretty much like arm-linux-gnueabi. In order to enable the same set of features, we have to update several configure scripts that generally match targets like *-*-linux*: in most places, we add *-uclinux* where there is already *-linux*, or uclinux* when there is already linux*. In gcc/config.gcc and libgcc/config.host we use *-*-uclinuxfdpiceabi because there is already a different behaviour for *-*uclinux* target. In libtool.m4, we use uclinuxfdpiceabi in cases where ELF shared libraries support is required, as uclinux does not guarantee that. 2019-09-10 Christophe Lyon <christophe.lyon@st.com> config/ * futex.m4: Handle *-uclinux*. * tls.m4 (GCC_CHECK_TLS): Likewise. gcc/ * config.gcc: Handle *-*-uclinuxfdpiceabi. libatomic/ * configure.tgt: Handle arm*-*-uclinux*. * configure: Regenerate. libgcc/ * config.host: Handle *-*-uclinuxfdpiceabi. libitm/ * configure.tgt: Handle *-*-uclinux*. * configure: Regenerate. * libtool.m4: Handle uclinuxfdpiceabi.
